Palazzo Venezia in Rom

around 1820

black pencil , numbered “21” in brown pen in the lower left corner, border in black pen, 21.8 x 32.4 cm

The drawing was made during Thomas Ender's study trip to Italy, which the artist undertook immediately after his trip to Brazil in 1820. After stops in Verona, Florence, Siena and Viterbo, the artist came to Rome at the end of March 1820, where he stayed one month through the end of April. Ender depicted the Palazzo Venezia in two other views (cf. Koschatzky 1982, p. 214).
